ON AIR POLLUTION TRANSPORT TO THE NORWEGIAN ARCTIC.
Abstract
Ground level measurements of sulphate made at Ny Ålesund and Bjørnøya during the period 1979-08-24 through 1984-08-31, has been analysed and used to identify episodes of polluted and clean air in the Norwegian Arctic. By objective criteria, it is shown that large-scale, quasi-stationary atmospheric flow systems, determining the basic conditions for long range transport from mid- to polar-latitudes.
