The aim of the URBER-tool development is to have a tool for environmental assessment of the current situation and the situation after the revitalising process. The tool addresses air and water quality and noise, and is based on existing tools used for assessing urban environmental situation. URBER is a tool where the user will be able to: • analyse the present environmental status with respect to causes and effects, • identify problems of concern, • set the environmental objectives, • identify measures and the environmental effects of the measures and • support the responsible authority in producing relevant information for other stakeholders involved including the public, in order to stimulate the participation of these in the planning process and secure ownership to the plan. The new features developed in the MASURIN project is the abatement module, where the user will be able to perform abatement measures and simulate the effects of the measures on the air and water quality. A key issue has been to develop this tool so that the system is user friendly.
